Laurie has been helping people to tell their stories ever since
she can remember. She got her first writing job in high school as
a weekly columnist for the local newspaper. She later became a daily
newspaper journalist and a reporter for national radio - experiences
that have given her an in-depth understanding of the media and an
ability to tell a wide variety of stories that capture the attention
of diverse audiences.
Since founding Whalebone Productions in 1987, Laurie has worked
with a variety of business and public sector organizations, from
small start-ups to large, international companies. She has been
responsible for creating and implementing highly successful marketing
communications strategies and public relations programs that have
resulted in greater profile and increased sales for her clients.
As a writer, Laurie has demonstrated her expertise in producing
technically-sound, highly effective copy for both business and the
general public. Her first book, Nootka Sound Explored, received
a Writer’s Award for best community history. Her work has
also appeared in a variety of publications in Canada and the U.S.,
helping to raise awareness of her clients’ products and services.
Ron Trepanier B.A. Sociology (Honours), M.A. Communications
Ron has more than 25 years experience in the private and public
sectors, working extensively in strategic planning and project development
for businesses, professional associations, community organizations,
and all levels of government.
A popular and well-respected facilitator, Ron’s strategic
planning sessions are in demand for their ability to inspire participants
to transform their organizations. Through his leadership role on
a wide range of economic development initiatives, Ron has been responsible
for establishing key partnerships and alliances, successfully bringing
together the people and resources needed to develop a variety of
projects at both the regional and national levels.
Ron has also applied his knowledge and considerable experience
in business and economic development in helping to foster an entrepreneurial
culture at the international level. In Russia, Indonesia and Ukraine,
he was part of a team that put in place the infrastructure required
to strengthen local capacity for sustainable business development.
